This is the theme of Cities People Planet by Herbert Girardet, the UN Global 500 Award winner who is well-known in his sustainable development focus. 

Urban communities are rapidly developed. And in the development process, an abundant amount of resources are utilised and a lot of wastes are incurred. Without care, there might be a number of risks in the future. To prevent city doom, it is necessary to focus on sustainable development, for example using renewable energy, or designing an environment which does not generate wastes.       

It is high time for people to focus more on environment. The book elaborates the world’s environment system and the impacts from urban community design on environment. It uses examples of cities around the world. The book is written in an easy language and is suitable for city people who want to maintain the livability of own city.
